P004 → ‘Shapes’ Children’s Book

This is a project I did for the Design Studio—Capstone 2 course at RMIT University.
I wanted to create a children’s brand that produces products with educational purposes for specific target audiences ranging from 3 to 5 years old who are in their early developing years. Personally, until this age, I was still very fascinated with every kind of children's book. That is why I want my first product to be a book: to help small children engage more with traditional and physical books rather than digital devices (even when they are very useful and up-to-date) at a very young age, to raise their interest in exploring and learning, and to prepare them to join kindergarten and elementary school.

‘Shapes’ is a children's illustrated book about a journey through all the basic shapes that are easily approached by kids at young ages. Our mascot, Finley, will be the companion, leading the readers throughout the journey. The journey contains illustrations made from three basic shapes: circle, square and triangle. The purpose of the book is to help kids learn about shapes and what they can make out of them, to teach them about identifying each object, and to help them create objects from what they have learned. The book helps kids develop their creativity and knowledge about shapes and the making of objects through simplicity.
